Centretown Movies is partnering with the AIDS Committee of Ottawa!
The AIDS Committee of Ottawa (ACO) is a community-based, non-profit organization providing free, confidential services for people living with, affected by and at risk of HIV in the Ottawa area.
They provide support, prevention, education and outreach services from an integrated anti-racism anti-oppression social justice framework to promote the holistic wellbeing of those living with, affected by, impacted by and at risk of HIV/AIDS in Ottawa.
Starting from a small group of gay men and lesbians in 1985, ACO has grown to include a broad cross section of volunteers, participants and staff members who come together to reduce the barriers that foster HIV infection, their causes, and negative consequences through advocacy, education, outreach and support services.

Centretown Movies is an annual outdoor film festival created by the community, for the community, to revitalize underused urban space in Ottawa’s downtown. Every Friday and Saturday beginning in mid-July through the month of August, Centretown Movies shows popular, family friendly movies in our open-air, walk-in theatre in Dundonald Park. Admission is always pay-what-you-can. Centretown Movies is a volunteer driven project, run by a volunteer organizing committee. The festival has one paid employee—the festival coordinator, who is hired for six weeks during the summer.
The project was founded primarily by a grant from the Trillium Foundation. The City of Ottawa provides some financial support and Centretown Community Health Centre (CCHC) sponsors Centretown Movies and provides assistance with staffing and administration. In the past, Centretown Movies has been sponsored by the Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation (CCOC), where we still store our equipment.
The festival was launched in the summer of 2001. In 2006, the festival moved to Dundonald Park where it will be held this year. Previous seasons have been held at the old Technical High School field, in a vacant lot at the corner of Bank and Slater and on Sparks Street.
