Festival Volunteers

We need assistance on-site in our open-air theatre every Friday and Saturday night in July and August. If you love movies, want to be outdoors this summer and are interested in meeting your neighbours then why not spend an evening or two volunteering at Centretown Movies?

Nightly tasks:

  • Move equipment to park and set it up – including the screen, speakers, cables & signage and requires some heavy lifting
  • Greet visitors and answer questions
  • Enjoy the film!
  • Collect donations
  • Strike equipment, return it to storage and tidy up the park after the film

Hours – Start: meet on-site (Dundonald Park at Somerset & Lyon) at 6pm, End: sometime after 11pm when the film has ended and things are packed up. Please wear closed-toed shoes for your shift.

Interested in helping out? Please send your resume to info [at] centretownmovies [dot] org - along with your availability for the following evenings:

Saturday July 12 – Volunteer Orientation! Come meet the volunteers, learn about the festival and the equipment.

The Lego Movie – Friday July 18                           Date Night – Saturday July 19

Only available for part of the evening? You can still help out! We always need extra hands for set-up and tear down of the site.

Steering Committee

If you are interested in helping out year-round we also have positions available on our steering committees. A small but dedicated team of volunteers, the committee plans and sustains the festival, focusing on programming, volunteers, publicity and fundraising.

Centretown Movies is organized by the community, for the community. Apart from one paid festival coordinator who is with us during the summer, the festival is completely run by volunteers. It’s your festival – come and lend a hand!
